road trip

on the morning of sunday august 9th, i departed from mom and dad’s and, for 1 year and 10 months, my home. after a packing frenzy and the loading of ‘the pod’, the kitties and i were ready to go. the vet gave me some drugs for the girls to feel nice and drunk. it wasn’t easy to administer, but miraculously, i successfully drugged both cats.
after a sweet and emotional farewell to mom, dad and gizmo (i didn’t stop crying until i reached the freeway) and with huey lewis and the news on the ipod, i was off.
after 1 hour, we made it to wyoming. i stopped to make sure egon wasn’t entirely up against the trunk, took some pictures of the lincoln monument, and mingus tried to escape. twice.

long story short, i drove for 11 hours until i made it to elko, nevada and the thunderbird motel. my room had TWO queen size beds, and two rolls of toilet paper on holders. one of them didn’t even have a triangle and the other one was so sloppily folded, it offended me. i made sure to fold them properly before i left, to show those slackers how it’s done. if i wasn’t entirely delirious, i would’ve taken pictures.
the next morning, i tried to drug the girls again. needless to say, it didn’t work and i should’ve been wearing pants.

they found moderately comfortable positions and snuggled together. (car-trauma-torture-time is the only time they cuddle each other)
directly behind the driver's seat, IN their litter box.

after a stressful transition into california, eased by a mix cd my dear friend davey made, i made it to the home of my besties, melissa, jesse and their rabbit mr. salty, in sebastopol. we had a lovely dinner, drank some wine, and the girls and i collapsed on the couch to sleep like the dead.
