my hollywood debut

on february 16th, my dear friend josh and i were extras in a stephen soderbergh movie called 'contagion'. i wasn't allowed to take pictures 'on set', of course. these are all in the tent or 'holding area' for the extras. we got there at 6am. i wasn't technically supposed to be there til 6.30 and josh not til 8.30 (it was alphabetical by last name). but we carpooled and got there early. it was freezing and dark when we arrived at candlestick park. we were herded into the check-in line by p.a.s with head sets on. there were hummers with national guard people in uniform around. we passed the wardrobe truck as it was being unloaded as well as a couple trailers. i wanted to take pictures of everything. josh made fun of me- 'there's nothing to take pictures of. ooh, it's a broom leaning against a truck, *on a movie set*!' and i was like 'YEAH it is!'
here's josh and i in the massive tent just after the sun's come up.

a prop guy came around handing out all different types of surgical/dust masks. we got crappy ones. we were comparing them with the other people around us.

this is after shooting. the first batch of people were able to get in line to check out. i estimated there were around 300 people in the tent at the height of the action. this is just one small corner of it. picture this times...like 10. that's how big the tent was and how many people were in it.

that's me. in the tent. in front of some people.

on our way out, the clouds were gorgeous, i'll have to include those pictures later. here's me, 'in costume', in front of candlestick park.

josh taking advantage of his rain boots.

a really rough sketch with bad perspective of 'the scene'. it looks like more than 20 feet between us and jude law, but it was about 20. also we're not standing on a hill. give me a break! gawd...

the entire story will be along eventually..
